2006 Year End Summary

 2006 Year End Summary

It seems that every year we keep topping ourselves and this year was no different. 2006 was a great year for our Team, Teammates, and Schools.

Our Jorge Gurgel competition team has reached national level rankings in submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. Our Muay Thai team dominated the Bondos.

JG MMA Academy expanded into a 12,800 sqft facility in West Chester, OH and became one of the largest MMA gyms in the country. A cage was generously donated by Sinister Angel Cages and weights from Power Station Gym.

Our affiliated schools have experienced tremdous growth as well and are expanding into new cities and facilities.

Our MMA fighters have experienced tremendous opportunities since the growth of the sport. UFC Champ Rich Franklin defended his belt against earlier this year then lost it against new comer Anderson Silvea. Jorge Gurgel fought twice this year for the UFC going 1-1. Dustin Hazelett fought for the  UFC and is scheduled to fight again in 2007. Mike Patt is at the top of the food chain in the Bodog Fight organization and will likely get a title match in 2007. Josh Souder became the Superfight champion for Legends of Fighting and lost a razor thin split decision for the LWT belt. Numerous others are fighting at all levels of shows throughout the country.

The forecast for 2007 looks good as we settle into our new location in West Chester and begin training new talent. Our fighters will enter 2007 healthy and ready to hit the comeback trail as we compete at every level of Mixed Martial Arts competitions.
