Jered Hidlebaugh (2-0, 149 pounds) won his first fight by unanimous decision but
took an inadvertent knee to the groin in the 3rd round of the 1st fight. He
advanced on to the finals, but was not able to fight due to the injury and took
second place.
Jeremy Kinman (0-2, 149 pounds) lost a hard fought 3 round war to Kortney Kugel, who eventually took 1st place when Hidlebaugh couldn't continue.
Matt "Zilch" Zirch (0-0, 139 pounds) did not get a fight due to the fact that he was under 18 years old and they had no one in his weight division who was under the age of 18.
Richard Brunk (1-1, 159 pounds) won his first fight convincingly and then dropped a split decision to the eventual champion in his 2nd fight.
Daniel Mcguire (1-0, 209 pounds) did not have a preliminary fight and won his finals fight by unanimous decision after another 3 round war.
All 5 fighters fought fantastically with much credit going to Coach Bowman (Doofy) for getting them prepared. A few of the fighters still had weight to cut on Friday night and Doofy was right there in the sauna with them, pushing them to not give up, no matter how tired they were. Their intense training definitely came into play, as they were easily the best conditioned fighters at the event.
The Muay Thai team will be back in action at the Arnold Classic in March.
